We live just a few houses from the school so it was really neat to see the school kids lining the road- cheering him on. (I forgot the camera in the house, so the picture below is from the local run last year- for effect.) Caleb passed our house, we waved, clapped and cheered. The parade ended just the other side of our yard- the Sheriff department vehicles stopped there to do whatever it is they do with the torch to transport it to the next location.

Ryan helped get the mail- a favorite past time of his. We said hello to our Post Mistress and went to the truck. My cell phone was ringing- I hurried as quick as I could to answer; full hands and all. A quick glance- Wes was calling. Here's how it went- or best I can remember after almost a week. Oh, and I think he was on his way home-although he probably won't admit it now.
Me- "Hello?"
Wes- "Where are you?"
Me-"At the post office."
Wes-"What the @&*% is going on?"
Me-"What???"
Wes-"Someone just called Bodee and told him the cops are at our house." (Bodee is a co-worker.)
Me-"Wow! Someone has too much time on their hands- Who was it?"
Wes-"Someone in town."
Me-"Special Olympics Torch Run."
Wes-"Oh-Okay."
Me-"That's pretty weird that someone would think that the whole school would be let out to look down the road to see the cops at our house- don'tcha think?"
Wes- Silence
Ok- it went on a bit from there- I got him to tell me who it was- they will remain anonymous on this post to protect their reputation- Or something like that.
Oh the joys of small town life- without neighbors like this, we may get really bored!
I SOOO don't miss the small town talk. I N.E.V.E.R. will either!! That was nice of Wes to be "concerned" :)
